Orla Kiely:  A Life in Pattern - and how it can make you happy without you even noticing

We are sorry to inform you that this event has been cancelled

The world of Orla Kiely is one where pattern reigns. Immediately recognisable, her unique design language and sure sense of graphic control has seen her label become a hugely successful global brand. From her early signature bags, the collection has grown to include a complete womenswear line, accessories, travel and homeware, sold in shops and outlets worldwide. Her flagship store in London's Covent Garden is the epicentre of a global business that has won four prestigious UK Fashion export awards. Her work is presented at London Fashion Week and encompasses luggage, stationery, gardening and homeware and her design studio has collaborated with leading brands such as Heal's, Clarks, Apple and Uniqlo.

A Life in Pattern is Orla's lavishly illustrated exploration of design evolution published to coincide with a major exhibition: Orla Kiely: a Life in Pattern at the Fashion and Textile Museum.

Orla will be in conversation with fashion and design specialist and writer Ana-Cecilia Guzman.

This Year's Events

Feedback

I very much enjoyed the events I came to at the Dorchester  Literary festival. It was all very well organised. The sessions on The Seabird's cry, Bee Quest, and The Otter's Tale were brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed all six events I attended and would have done many more if my time had allowed. Congratulations to all the people involved for a very well organised event. I am most certainly looking forward to next year's events calendar- the dates are already in my diary.

Paul was an excellent interviewer, and I loved the format. Great audience, acoustics...

William and I had a very interesting and often hilarious time putting (our presentation) together – fortunately we both wanted to be thoroughly prepared, so we refined and refined… we enjoyed ourselves, aided and abetted by the helpfulness of you and yours behind the scenes, the warmth of the audience, and the pleasantness of the setting. Speaking at your festival was an altogether happy experience. I only wish I had managed to organise listening to many of the other talks, which I really wanted to do… Many congratulations to you and all your team, and all wishes for Festival no. 3!
