Alex Scarrow: From screenwriter and games designer to author

Be inspired by Alex Scarrow - the author of the international bestselling teen series TIMERIDERS, the plague series REMADE and a number of adult thrillers. Before being a published author, he spent ten years in the computer games industry as a game designer. Many of his books feature the concepts found in the high-end computer games he used to design.

His newest series Remade launched in 2016 with a spin-off series ‘Plague Land’ following in 2018. TimeRiders was a RedHouse Awards, Catalyst Awards, Hampshire Book winner and a finalist for Galaxy Children's Book of the Year.

Alex will be talking about his varied career, how he got into writing novels, reading from TimeRiders and taking questions.

Feedback

I did so enjoy being with you and doing my stuff. I hope to see you again, though I am so busy I don't seem to have time for writing much at present! I am
sure your festival will go from strength to strength….

I'm now back at my desk after Ann Cleeves' mammoth book tour and wanted to send a note to say a huge thank you for hosting such a fantastic event for us. It was a definite highlight out of the 30 events!

Feedback From 2016 Festival

Very well organised, excellent variety in terms of author and presentation. Favourite was Tony Robinson, but I also really enjoyed Julia Shaw (memory very thought provoking), Richard Dannatt (good solid start to festival) JOHN Wright (local and good humour) Alison Weir (such research and knowledge) and Victoria Hislop (novel in a different style).
